the Scrobbld Desktop Communicator (v0.2) - for eBay users Posted on October 1st

Further to my previous introductory post on the Desktop Communicator, I’ve now got round to writing up a quick guide of the features that are available. This will just take the form of a step-by-step instructions, as to be honest, there aren’t too many features to cover.

The Sign In Screen

sign-in Here, obviously is the sign in screen. You need to have a Scrobbld account, which is completely free, and you use your sign in credentials for Scrobbld here. Click the remember me checkbox to save a copy of these credentials on your local computer.

The Message List

message-list After you sign in, you will be greeted with the ‘message list’ - assuming you have added an eBay account (with messages in it) to the page where you downloaded the software from. If there are no messages here, then please connect an eBay account to your Scrobbld account (though you have to sign in to the website to do this… I’m working on it). The messages list displays your customers (and potential customers!) with the number of messages in each conversation, along with the most recent message in your conversation. If you click on a customer, you will goto the next step.

The Conversation

conversation This is where your messages are displayed in date order (I may have used the iPhone layout as inspiration). The messages you have received are on the left hand side, and the messages you sent are on the right hand side, along with a date and time. To reply, you just type a message in the ‘Reply’ box at the top of the page, and click ‘Reply’. You’ll be prompted if you’re sure you want to send the message.
You may also notice that when you hover over the conversation containers they turn blue. If you click on one, it will show you the
item that the customer was enquiring about.

The Item View

view-item After you click on the message a small dropdown will appear at the top of the page with the most significant information concerning the item. This also includes a link to the item’s page on eBay.

Conclusions…

The desktop communicator is extremely light-weight, though it might not have all the features that will make it useful for you! Let us know your comments on it, feel free to leave feedback in the website, and leave your comments here on this blog post, as we’re looking for useful ideas to help us take the development further.
